So this should be my last English class, which is pretty sweet I suppose. For all of my complaining, I actually enjoy this class - the prof is really great and the workload is light, and since it's my arts elective I'm thankful for that. You know, all my life I've tried to take the "hard" English, and without fail, 100% of the time, it's way easier.

So last weekend I went to Halifax and stayed at Jesse's mini-rez. It was a good time, messy perhaps, but good. I got to see a lot of people, but not all of them - because although some of them called at approximately three in the morning, they never found cab fare. I finally got to meet Myra, one of Jesse's internet friends, so that was solid. Halifax is scary; on the bus ride there I sat next to someone who kept talking about where people were murdered, and then this person kept staring at me on the bus. Went to see Casino Royale with Myra, Jesse and Brent, which I must say is a fucking awesome movie, I've never liked a Bond movie but I loved this one.

Because of the power of Facebook, I have been able to re-meet a bunch of my old friends from Shelburne - it's crazy to see everyone and how they've changed, and good to get to know people again. Maybe I'll be able to meet up with some of them at some point, as a bunch of them are in Hali and I go there every few weekends anyway.

Hmm... what other pointless crap do I have to ramble about in order to escape the hellish reality of my everyday life... Classes are over on Monday! Can't wait.... Although I'm pretty much stuck in Wuffle until the 18th, because I have a Psychology midterm, which is just perfect. Let me tell you one thing I've learned so far about Psychology.... it's not real.... Maybe when I have a stretch of time I'll go and visit Hali during exam period, lord knows I'll need a study break.

Class is over, we have to do course evaluations, any I'll ttyl.

Peace.

The picture? Yeah it was a good time last weekend, I guess.

P.S. Alex might be getting incredibly mad in a while.... but you'll hear about it if that happens.

Can you say "Last week of classes?" I can...but I'm scared of baers right now... Even though it brings me closer to the day I go home (Dec. 11th/12th) there's a few obstacles that stand between the final day of classes and home... They're called EXAMS! *FEAR* Yeah...I need to do wicked on my Natural Disasters exam, which is set for Nov. 30th. I've got two more exams for my INFX class, which I believe is on Dec. 6th and Dec 11th. Basically this week will be nothing but me, shutting myself away from society and reading anything that has to do with Volcanoes, Hurricanes, Blizzards, Earthquakes, etc.

As for anything else that's going on in my life...I moved my room around...it's..nice...and...I...don't have much else to report I guess. I lead a pretty boring life lol.

If anything interesting does happen, then I'll probably post something more interesting.

Laters
- Dan

If someone else would post that would be just fabulous

So who else is sick?

As per usual, I'm here in English, and can you guess what we're talking about? You've got it. Natives. This time, it's about using humour to talk about Native issues instead of anger. Although I think it's about time to move on - to a play! Hurray! Except for the fact that the play is essential about a man who comes over for dinner and then leaves.

I've finished my midterms, and now I just have a few assignments to do - so hopefully if everything works out I'll be able to go to Halifax for the weekend and chill with the Baers et al because supposedly there is a party for some reason. Acadia has been kinda blah, just because now we have 23 hour quiet due to exams and everyone seems to be sick. Basically, my major accomplishment last weekend was taking a bath. Although I did manage to get a wine glass with "Al-Baer" engraved on it for five bucks at a craft fair they had in the gym, so that's sweet.

When does everyone finish exams? I can't wait to get home and party all through Christmas break - my goal is to forget everything I've learned first semester. I mean, it's better to start fresh, right?

Did anyone see Michael Richard's racist tirade? I'm sure by now you've all heard about it. Personally, I think it's 2 parts terrifying, 2 parts racist, and three parts hilarious.

Anyways, that's all for now.

The picture? Wellll it's kind of a long story. Magic Johnson was supposed to visit Acadia as some sort of Sodexho promotion (On September 26th!), and well... didn't. So someone stole the poster that advertised his arrival, leaving a ransom note stating that in order for the poster to be returned, Magic himself would have to come here. So yeah, someone then stole the poster from him, and then the meal hall staff found out about it, so the thief once removed had to return it to the guy who originally stole it, and then we posed for photographs before it was returned. An emotional moment, for certain.

Great Weekend :)

Hey Buds,

Last weekend was freakin' sweet. Everyone managed to get to A.Dot for the weekend and an intense amount of partying ensued. Friday night was spent hanging out and eventually meeting up at Bamb's (it had been too long since my lips tasted the sweet, sweet greasiness of a late night slice). Saturday I managed to get out to Camp Tidnish with Sarah, and then our boss randomly showed up to show someone around, so it was good to see her and the camp again.

Saturday, a few of us went to Port Elgin with Brent, and as he is now 19, we had a rather large order to be placed. It was great. That night a bunch of people went to Nicole's, which was a good time, and then of course we all congregated back at our natural habitat (Bamb's) and went to another Amherst hotspot (the Elementary school playground) before returning home. Although the Bamb's people seemed very agitated, the police were apparently called because a bunch of people were standing in the aisle (although considering the restaurant only seats like 15 people there wasn't really anywhere else to be).

Sunday the party took place at Kylie's, which was also a good time, and eventually Dan and I returned to Carly's and ate a whole lot of McChickens.

So yeah, instead of paying attention in English, here I am. Well, I am paying attention, but we're discussing tribes and Indian rights and how native people map different? I don't know. This is going to be a fun final, let me tell you.

I've got a lot of crap to do this week - a couple midterms and labs, etc. Oh well. I don't really have anything interesting to say.

Bye.

(The picture was taken on Nicole's deck, it's kind of a miracle we got all the brothers together in one spot for a photo-op. Note that the four on the left are smiling with their teeth, and the four one the right aren't - I found that neat).

So What Else Is New

Hey Buds!

I'm kind of excited to see everyone back in the A.Dot this weekend. Some of you I haven't seen since last summer, which is totally uncool. I'm going to be taking the bus to Halifax sometime late Friday, and then mother is picking me up, so I think I'm giving Daniel-san, Brent and Jesse a ride, sorry to anyone else but they asked first and we only have the lil' car. Party time to the max once we arrive in town, just so everyone's aware. I'm currently here in English Class... and if you guessed that we're taking about anything related to English, you'd be a fucking moron, because we're obviously talking about NATIVE RIGHTS.

I randomly got strep throat last weekend so pretty much spent the whole time in bed/my rez. Bonnie was kind enough to go with me to the clinic so I could see a doctor (thank you Bonnie) and then we went and got penicillin/poutine/donairs because she had never had a donair because she's crazy. So anyway, the point of my story is I owe Bonnie a trip to the clinic when her inevitable problem needs to be put in a trash can.

On my quest to switch into engineering I've hit yet another snag (I enjoy how Acadia is like blah blah blah you can switch at any time, and the one time I try to change it's a definite no). However, since I don't understand the concept of giving up, I'm going to keep trying.

The photograph is an old picture of jazz band from the time that I had class all weekend. I thought I'd put it up mostly because I think it makes the posts more entertaining and I haven't taken any interesting pictures lately.

Annnnnnd we're done.

That Dan is a silly bitch

I've been hearing that posting is all the rage...so why not follow along?

Last time you've heard from me was a few days into the frosh week...shiiit..talk about awhile ago. I've totally switched programs, from Managment to Informatics (Computer Science and Buisness aspects rolled all into one) I really disliked the Managment and was stressing out over it. After I got into the INFX program, I've never enjoyed school work as much lol (Don't get me wrong, it can still burn in Hell, but at least I somewhat like it lol) Although I haven't been doing as well as I could have hoped, and that's kinda been getting to me. My studying habits have yet to make a turn for the best. I still procrastinate badly, and been trying to turn that around. I'm pretty sure I'm sitting around a "C" average...just a guess though. I got a "D" on both my Informatics and Natural Disasters midterms (duh, yeah, I know). When it came down to the INFX oral exam, I blanked out so bad during one portion of it, that all I remember seeing was white...I couldn't move any bodly function, couldn't blink, couldn't breathe...kinda scared the shit out of me because I had no idea what my Profs were talking about. Until luckly he said something I remembered and snapped out of it. Although after that fucking midterm, i speed-walked home, knocked on Kit's door and basically just hugged her because I was shaking so badly.

Anyway, enough about that school work...you're probably wondering who "Kit" is. She's a good friend of mine who lives on my floor, in my tower at Risley. I invited her up for the long weekend to show her around Adot as well as party with all who is going home, so you may be able to meet her if she decides to come. I've made quite a few new friends...it's a slow process, but it's coming along. I do truly miss my buds, and for the past few weeks, there hasn't been a day where I haven't thought about next weekend. I was thinking of going up to St. Thomas this weekend, but I don't wanna have to miss an INFX quiz for it, because they only drop two of the lowest ones, and since I came into the course late, Quiz #1 has already been dropped, and don't wanna have to risk another.

I've been trying to eat as healthy as I can to stay away from the horrible *DEEP VOICE* Freshman 15 *END DEEP VOICE* Although me, Jesse and Brent have been ordering Greco at least once every week (up until a few weekends ago) At one point we had Lepper over for some poker and ordered 3 pizzas, 2 cinastrips and 1 garlic fingers lol, it was a good time.

Well, I'm done typing for now.. I can't wait to see everyone on the long weekend, just to hang out, get drunk, get some Bam's, maybe have a brewski at Dooly's bahaha...if only... Feel free 'mon down to Hali and visit, I'm sure I could steal a couch from the lounge for you to stay on. Oh, and shut up about site updates, I'll get them up when I get to it...I've been busy, and when I'm not busy, I'm lazy..so shut up lol.

Laters
Dan

Status of Brent: Alive and Well

Yes...yes I'm still surviving college life. I must say I'm relieved midterms are finally behind me, assuming that wasn't a given. Wednesday is normally my worst day, but well...I decided to skip 3 of my classes to do a 1-hour assignment. I didn't really think that through, but I'm not really regretting it either....once I finish my work and go to my night class tonight, I'm pretty much done my homework for the week...then it's time to rock.

I think I have a different attitude to life here than the rest of us. Since I've lived in about 344323 different places in my transition from home in Amherst to here in Hali, I haven't really had anywhere to call home...so being here in rez feels like home to me. I'm definitely enjoying having a double room to myself, especially after spending about $150 on posters to make me feel even more at home.

So last night was Halloween...it didn't feel right without coming home with 26 pounds of candy, but it still wasn't a bad night. Spent half of it walking to and from a liquor store which ended up not being open, and the other half sitting in a room with 10 people playing stupid drinking games...coulda been worse. Oh wait, it WAS when that girl dressed as an angel puked all over the floor and I ran and hid in the kitchen just so I wouldn't have to be in the same room as her. Oh well, you gotta take the bitter with the sweet.....or well, the digested with the fermented.

I think I'd be correct in saying I'm the most excited about Remembrance Day weekend....I forget exactly why, but I'm sure everyone else knows why. All I'm saying. Definitely looking forward to seeing ya'll then. Until next time.

Good call, Its Jesse's turn

So, it's 2 am in the morning, and I'm finishing up an assignment due the next morning, cause I'm a procrastinator like that, but ya'll knew that.

Last weekend was pretty sweet, even though Alex conked out early I partied on through the night. Acadia is a really nice place, nice and quiet and friendly. I lost my return ticket though, which screwed me over an extra 15$. As for me and Halifax, I'm liking it. Oh and for those who didn't know, yeah I've got a hernia. If you don't know what that means...ask your father. I've been out of work and will be for a loooooong ass time. Which kills me, I love work... Sobeys family 4 life.

Dal is sweet, I'm in mini rez which is still on campus, but it's a smaller version of traditional residences. It's like a big ass house with 14 people in it, 6 on my floor, 5 on the next, and 3 on the next. I've got a sweet big room with a DECK. Come on and check it out kiddies. The food is good, the people are good...but wait, it doesn't feel right.

After a talk with a good old friend of mine, we've come to realize that this just feels like a big ass temporary replacement. The people and new friends we make are great! But they will never truly be our "buds". I still feel like I'm just in some hotel room, in town for some meeting and I'll be back home soon. You can be at the biggest party in the world, with all kinds of great people, but without your "buds" there, you stand alone. Well atleast that's how I feel. If you don't like it you can, FUCK OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.

Anywho, I'm pumped as HELL for rememberance day weekend as I'm sure we all are. We most definitly need to have a good ole poker game for old times sake, and of course a trip to Bams, and the quarry. We ride together, we die together. Bad boys for life.

Jesus Christ Post For The Love Of Fuck

Well, I thought that I might as well post due to the fact that nobody does, even though I know you're still alive. So I'm sitting in English class, which is just the most fantabulous class of life, and I'm thoroughly enjoying our CONSTANT DISCUSSIONS ON NATIVE RIGHTS.

Anyway, I hope everyone did well on their midterms, and all that jazz - people here don't tend to do very well, it seems. Everyone is going to drop chem, and even though I did good on the midterm I'm thinking that perhaps I will switch into engineering. If I can do this and not add another year onto my degree I'll consider it - this means I'll be going to Dal in two years, and may even have to do a summer course at SMU if I cannot get my courses in..... Omg I'm potentially goin' to SMU! (Keep in mind this is very much in plan stage right now so before you go telling everyone Alex is dropping chem and transferring to SMU, don't.)

Jess Baer came to visit last weekend, and it was an interesting time - that is all I'm going to say. Let's just say that there was an Engineering kegger and that everyone in my rez had a bad night. It was good to see an old bud and all that fun stuff. University had been quite a wild ride, so any essence of normalcy is greatly appreciated.

So back on the topic of this English class, we just spend like half an hour trying to get a 20 second clip to play. And then when it did play, nobody could hear it. Woot. I love these ten minute presentations - the first two hours of them were slow, but now that we're entering hour three I think my interest is peaking. Who knew that Coyote was such an influential figurehead in Native Spirituality? Who could have guessed that people on reserves form a "close-knit community"? This next presentation is on "Native Myth vs Christianity", and I think we all know who the clear victor is......... That's right, me, for getting to experience yet another amazing presentation.

(At this point, I'm just rambling, because I have absolutely nothing else to do.)

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but I guess it's Halloween, although it doesn't feel like it because this is the first year I haven't gone trick-or-treating.

Well, I just decided I need a break from Acadia, so if any of you people who read this live far away and are willing to put up with me for a few days and provide food and/or adventure, let me know. And woah, Brent you are totally coming to Amherst for Remembrance Day, because we need to celebrate your 19th FUCKING BIRTHDAY!!! Congrats bud.

This is all for now, I suppose. As my life will surely be thrown into turmoil with the next round of midterms, perhaps I will be able to take time and post during my English classes.

Love Alex.

(The picture is us heading out to.... I don't remember. Homecoming Party I think. And yes, I have gotten fat, and yes, I am chewing on a shoe.)

b-l-o-g, its my first blog since '93

i hope no one has forgotten about me.
i'm back in the game, well for the first time i guess. now that dan has completely straightened me out as far as this whole site is concerned, expect me to be here regularly. i still might need some rope-showing from you guys, but i should be fine.
so wow whats going on? is school treating everyone well? i handed in my first paper this week...and had three tests. its not too bad so far though. there are only four people in my english class, which is pretty fucking cool. our teacher said she would take us to her house and get pizza and stuff. even go on field trips maybe.
how is the friend making going? kylie and i have made a couple and its pretty cool. i miss all you guys though, shitloads. i can't wait till thanksgiving, we definitely need to get it poppin'. i'll be home thursday night of next week so drop me a line people!
-T

Update On Your SMU Bud

Hey Buds,
So I have been at SMU for about....4 and a half weeks and have had classes for 3 weeks and I am loving it buds! I have been meeting more and more people now especially in my classes! Note: Drinking and meeting people sucks because when you are sober and see them again yes they know me but i don't know them because I met them when I was loaded! I don't really remember my frosh week i went through unrecorded amount of Captain, knocked out all my records of drinking! The picture is a good example of what I looked like all frosh week! I was at DAL getting drunk with Dan and we are on our way to SMU to eat alphagettti and watch Friends episodes, and was suppose to drink more but couldn't! It's been a blast! So far with the work and reading so good I have had 2 assignments so far and both of those assignments I got an A+ on which is great! ( PS Alex it was in calculus). I have partied with the DAL boys pretty much at least one night a weekend which I love, I would probably be home sick ALOT if I didn't have them 7 minutes away! It's certainly been a very, very wild ride, so I'll try to do a quick recap and highlight of everything that's been happening.

Frosh week was pretty fun - even though it wasn't really my thing. I was "Bush" Frosh, which meant that whenever the upper year students said so, I had to run and jump headfirst into a Bush. I was brutally scratched up and bleeding constantly, and I'm pretty sure I broke my toe. I also developed this intensely painful bump on my foot, that I've recently been told is called a "callous". It really hurts, even to this day.

Um, I'm taking chemistry, physics, calculus, english and psychology. There is nothing that really interests me. I'm in Chemistry for majors, which is ridiculously hard, and apparently 75% of the class is going to drop it sometime before next year. So that's reasurring... at least I'm not being set up to fail :|.

I really like the people here at Acadia, some of them are intensely cool. I honestly believe that I live on the best floor of the best residence at the University, and if you'd like to hear my scientific explanation of this then just ask. I was voted floor rep so I am on house council, and I basically just go and rep 3-C (third floor Christofor). There have been a lot of cool parties, most notably "Hell Night", "Stop-light party", and "Anything but clothes".

In chem lab I have to wear special lab glasses that fit over my own regular glasses, because if I wear contacts I will get chemicals in my eyes and die. I also have a lab-coat... So essentially, I'm a sexy little thang whenever I'm measuring pressure or figuring out ideal gas equations in the lab.

One thing about University that I've noticed is that I have violent mood swings - I got back my first calculus assignment and the mark was less than I had hoped for, so I basically wanted to drop out and cry. But then I'll go get a piece of pizza, or do some heroin, and then I'll feel better.

I joined Jazz band, (AND SWEET JESUS IT'S THE HARDEST THING EVER), which was okay, but I hope it doesn't screw me over and subsequently drop my average.

Well, I guess this is everything for now... I'm sure there are more things, but I'm sitting here with some friends playing 360 and I should probably study physics or psychology or write thank you notes or do one of the other 1000 things I should probably be doing right now.

Love Alex.

Uni Update

Well, It's day two here at Dalhousie, and it seems to be going pretty good so far. I made a couple friends, as well as hanging out with the old buds. Did some frosh stuff which was fun, but it's still weird that when i walk down the hallways, I'm expecting to see a good friend that I know, but there's not lol.

In time I'll have to see how things go, as for me, I'm going to watch some TV
Peace out

The Last Day In Amherst.

Yep, those are my buds. Do somethin'.

For better or for worse, today is my last day in Amherst. Tomorrow I will be travelling to Wolfville, staying overnight at the Blomidon Inn and moving into 315 Christofor Hall the day after.

It's hard to not be a little freaked out. This morning when I woke up was the first time that I felt a twinge of fear, fear at the idea that I'm leaving my family and home and everything that is safe and comfortable, and that I'm now officially on my own, supposedly prepared to make my own decisions. Now, anyone who knows me probably wouldn't put me in charge of raising a cactus, let alone giving me responsibility for myself. (In fact, I did once have a cactus, I think it fell behind my desk and died because I wasn't paying attention.)

I'm going to miss you all! You've all been amazing friends and have helped me in your own ways to grow up and become the person that I am today. Sadly, I know that while I'll do my best, drifting apart will be more common than not and we'll run into each other 5 years down the road and awkwardly stare and be unsure of ourselves. So, if I do happen to run into any of you 5 years down the road, don't let it be this way... We'll just open a few beers and reminisce about all of the amazing times that we had back when we were buds, living in Amherst, playing CTF and DDR and drinking and partying, walking around town after midnight, talking, arguing, playing risk and chillin' at cottages, living it up and mostly making huge asses out of ourselves but loving every fucking second of it. Life is too short to waste, too long to be scared all the time, and too empty to go through it without buds like you guys. I'm sure you'll all be complete successes, and I wish you nothing but the best. No matter how much money you make, how famous you get, or how great your new lives are, never forget where you came from.

It has been an absolute pleasure.

Bye, buds.

Al-baer loves ya.

"...Thinking about Time."

It's winding down, and there's no way to stop it. Within less then 5 days, all of us will be departing our seperate ways. It's gonna be a different switch, and I'll miss hanging out with all my friends. People experience different emotions when it comes to a major change. I happen to be experiencing anger. I'm not sure why, but I happen to be pissed at everything that crosses my path. I'm also very angry at Time itself. The passage of time waits for noone, and it's true. I want this summer to last forever, but it's quickly ending and all of us are moving on to different things, where we have to meet new friends and learn new stuff.

Now I didn't really intend this post having a point lol. I've finished my fourth session at Camp Tidnish, and while I thought that I would be completely finished, I've decided to go back and help out for a couple days this last session, as they desperately need the help... And even though I'm heading to Acadia before it's over, if I leave soon enough I'll still have some time to prepare. So what-ev.

I've already started to say goodbye to some friends - Carly, Laura and I went to Duncan's tonight to say goodbye, as Laura is moving to Toronto on Friday. I wish her nothing but the absolute best of luck; hopefully she'll become famous and be my sugar mama. I mean, hopefully she'll become famous and donate half her paycheck to orphans.

The countdown is on, with nine days remaining. Before we all leave, we're plotting an adventure of sorts... it's going to be an incredibly sketchy night, so stay tuned for details if you enjoy tales of drunken streetwalking and perhaps arrests.

And the picture? Well, sometimes at Camp we'd blast music and have impromtu dance parties on the deck, things get a little wild, it happens. Campers like it, so please reserve your judgment.

Love Alex.

Finally Home

Incase you haven't noticed, I've been gone for the past four weeks. But as of yesterday morning, I'm finally back in this boring old town I call home.

The time I've been in Fort McMurray, Alberta has pretty much been spent working my ass off and not much else. As much as I don't like to admit it, I worked at AMP Husky (the shitty gas station) again this summer, but since the old manager is gone, I liked it a lot better this time. The new manager, Marie, doesn't really care WHAT we do, as long as we actually get work done while doing it. She's a good lady. I definitely worked with a lot of interesting people there....there was underaged chain smoker with stunted growth, the big brown tire guy who picks on said chain smoker, the drug addict cashier who eventually gets fired, the two metrosexual friends who are consumed with working out and buying new shoes, and the guy with the African accent who nobody can understand.

Me and Dad went down to Edmonton for a weekend for a break from work, which was definitely fun. I spent probably about $300, but none of that came from the money I made at Husky, so no harm done. A fun weekend filled with good food, good entertainment, and good 'sights' at the West Edmonton Mall.

As fun as the past few weeks have been, I'm damn glad to be home for some "me" time before it's time to go away to Halifax.

Humpday song of the Week

Here it is, as promised. No......YESSSSSS.
Well Christ, this was some fun, and then some.

The Weekend starts off at Jesse's house on Saturday morning. We all load up the Envoy and begin our drive down to Lr. Sackville to pick up Myra and Kristie. To pass the hours from Amherst to Sackville, we watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze on Jesse's travel VHS player (pretty sure it was the size of a small child) but still, it brought some laughs "Yeah...Ye..Yeahhhh..." haha.

We had our jobs on the way down. I was responsible for the camera (turns out I forgot it in the truck) and Lepper was the Navigatior. I have to admit, I had no faith in him, but he surprised me, I was impressed with his work. "I'm the Navigatior BITCH!"

We make it to Lr. Sackville, and had to do a U-turn in the middle of Beaver Bank Rd. (safe? No..No it isn't) Stop into the Kent parking lot, say our Hello's and Goodbyes to the parents and take off towards Grace's Farmhouse in Kempt Shore (aka. nowhere) It wasn't long until we found the house. Even though we passed it twice. The first driveway we turned around in, the old lady that lived there came outside and put her hands on her hips...She was gonna cut off our heads I'm sure. The 2nd driveway had two farmers working on a truck, but they didn't seem to care much. We got there, unloaded the SUV and gave a round of hugs.

First few things we do: Put up the tents and take a visit to the "sandy" beach. Now this was no normal beach, oh no, this beach was entirely covered in muck, and when u sank down, sharp, jagged rocks would cut your feet until you die of bloodloss. Because the tide was out, it took a longer walk through the pain just to feel the water. Once we got to the water, it didn't help with the feet, seeing how you still sunk down into the sharp rocks of death. Then we had to go back to the shore...well, you know what happened.

Once back, we decided to go to the fresh water quarry which was just down the road. In "Quarry" we expected to see an empty rock quarry with a swimming hole, but it was deff a fresh water lake, where we saw Jessica Pederson's folks as well as Julie's mother. We swam the afternoon away and came back to the house for supper.

Lucas BBQ'd some Hamburgs and Hotdogs on the charcoal grill as well Janice gave us some fresh veggies with ranch dip. We ate, took pics and enjoyed a nice game of catch with the football and frisbee. (Basically it was just throwing the stuff at Lepper who was sitting on the 2nd floor of the barn)

We then went back for another swim in the quarry, then we got cold so we came back, got on our PJ's or comfy clothes and played Taboo as well as gathered around the campfire to make smores while I cooked my infamous Alphaghetti.

Kristie, Lepper and Myra went to bed early (who knows what they did) while the rest of us went far into the night with some amazing quotes and a few games of Taboo. When it was time to hit the hay (almost literally..sleeping in a tent in a hay feild) Grace and Kara decided to keep us up with their unessasary screaming.

Once the morning came, so did breakfast. What better to eat then Kara's homemade Blueberry Pancakes as well as Chocolate Chip Pancakes. MMMMMMM!!! Grace made the eggs, which were awesome, and had a few peices of toast which Lucas created. After wolfing those down, Me, Kristie and Myra were on clean-up duty. (Somehow Lepper got out of any cleaning up by being on "cat duty" by feeding the cats)

Another swim was followed at the quarry, and then MUD FLATTING!!!!
Now this proved to be the highlight of the weekend. We travelled by van taxi to Upper Burlington, by a bridge where we slid down in the mucky sides of the river. Everyone had a great time and there's pictures to prove it. We only had one ride from the river to the quarry, which was a 20 minute drive (that's one way only, 40 minutes both ways) Bobby (Grace's Dad) had to make three trips to pick up everyone. Janice decided to stay back, and because of the number of people, one of us had to stay too. She picked a number and the person who got it was in the car. Myra failed to win the game, but because I'm so nice, I let Myra take my spot while I stayed with Janice at the river. (Because I gave up my spot, I got a nice warm shower =D) Turns out everyone secretly washed themselves anyway...but I got the full body wash, they just washed their hair.

We had some supper, which Lucas' mother made two pans of lasagina (sp?) which was amazing. We cleaned up and created another campfire, where Lucas told ghost stories (and I learned I suck at telling stories lol)

Me, Jesse and Lucas went back to the tent (where we thought everyone was gonna follow to hang out) but turns out I fell asleep. According to Kara, they broke open 4 boxes of Kraft Dinner and ate it...which made me sad, I was looking forward to the KD (we brought 7 boxes all together)

Morning came early. (Lepper said it was 9am, so we thought we only had an hour to take the tents down and eat.) But Lepper was being a dick and it was really 8am. (And Yes, we did benifit from it, gave us more time to say goodbye) We got our stuff packed and took the tents down. We had some more of Kara's awesome pancakes and closed up the farmhouse.
We loaded up the Envoy and said our goodbyes as well as gave our so-long hugs. We grabbed some Kleenx and waved them in the air as we left (a tradition at the farm...so I'm told) and off we were to drop of the Sackville girls.

We watched the starting of TMNT2 again lol, and after we said our goodbyes to the sackville girls, we left back to our working lives back in Amherst.

It was an amazing weekend, and everyone had a great time.

- Dan

Man I love funneling

How could one not? Seriously guys, climb out of the holes you call home and indulge in such a glorious and graceful art. I owned those beer, they didn't even see me coming. Nobody seen this blog post coming either, so it's like I've won twice, although there isn't really anything to win. But seriously, summer is almost half over. W.T.F. eh? I remember when summer and university seemed so far away, but there's only 40 days left til I (and most likely everyone else) leave for school. It seems so surreal, who would've thought I'd even live to be 18? Not me, that's for sure. I got myself a huge student loan, which completely every single thing for school, which's means I don't have to get a job this summer. However, I really do want one and hopefully something will come up very soon, or else I'll be screwed for spending money next year. But anyway, back to school. It's going to be quite intense, especially with my Fridays off next year (shibby), but I think I may actually miss Amherst after a while. It'll definitely be an amazing weekend the first time everyone is back in town. Anyway, I'm off to listen to music and slay orcs most likely. Posse' Out.

The Camp Tidnish Experience

No simple words can describe the emotional trainwreck that I became after my first day at Camp Tidnish. It was both a terrible and amazing experience, complete with all sorts of physical and mental stress. Providing complete (and well, I'm not going into details but I mean COMPLETE) care for adult men with physical disabilities caused me to question not only my own abilities but my purpose in life. You don't really know how much you have until you work with people who have absolutely nothing, less than nothing. And while in the beginning it was painful, on my day off I took some time to regroup and reflect and prepare myself mentally for my return to work. This made it a lot easier to cope and allowed me to enjoy spending the rest of the week at Camp. It really turned into a great experience - the campers are wonderful and the staff is nothing short of amazing. I don't know if I'll ever meet nicer, more caring people, and they really made everything a lot easier to deal with, providing stress relief and laughter at the end of a looong day.

I'm not going to delve too deeply into my experience on here, but overall I'm intensely glad I did it, and I think it made me a much stronger person and taught me a lot about myself. I'll be returning tomorrow for a whole new batch of campers, this time it's children with physical and mental challenges. As Bob J. put it when he was talking to me one day at camp, "This place really seperates the men from the boys."

True that.

Slight Updates and Jodie's Party

Alot of people are asking why the site is dieing, It's because since I've got my laptop, I don't have photoshop on it, and i haven't used my comupter in a very long time...plus, lazyness acounts for this as well. The site will be updated with time, thats for sure, it's just that...my computer...it's sooooo slow lol, as soon as I get photoshop on this laptop, it'll be back up and running in no time.

As for the party...well this led to fun had by all.
I was the DD (Designated Driver) so, not as much fun as I could have had, but still, I enjoyed myself.
Me and Jesse had to work late, so we didn't leave until 10:15ish, we drive by Steamboats, and I get a call from Sean, saying he wanted to go, we make the turn back to get him and head on out the Jackson's Point.

We get there, and not even two minutes there, Jesse has a Blue in his hand, and downs it in 5 minutes. With Jesse getting free drinks from everyone, I noticed that Vince, Lepper, Brent and Kylie were already hammered, and it was not even 11pm. There were alot of people there having a good time, some sitting around the fire drinking/talking, some hotboxing cars, and others making out down by the Garage. Yes, it sounds like a clip from the movie Dazed and Confused...except in that movie there was no sitting around the fire...and there was no fighting here...and..well, u get the jist of it.

As the night went on, some people were leaving, and others were..well..still getting drunk. Vince passed out in a chair after funneling an unoffical count of Nine beers, and then drinking more. Lepper on the other hand started to sober up, Brent was "banging the chicks" according to Jake, and Jesse was Dancing and DDR'ing.

After when it came time to leave...it was about 3am at this point...the challenge was to get a passed out, racist drunk, into the Jeep without puking or punching [on] anyone or anything.
The drive home was better then expected, only a little bit of puke was touched by Jesse's hand. We got to Wendy's dropped him and Lepper off (so he could take care of him) and I dropped everyone else off. I came back to help Lepper, but instead ended up making a MickeyD run for him...which I bought myself an Egg McMuffin with his cash hahaha. Came back to Vince's to find everyone asleep, so I dropped off the food, went home and slept.

Here's to a great night
*Cheers*

White Point '06!

White Point!

Something which we look forward to every year is our annual Youth Group trip to White Point Beach Resort, located on the sunny(?) South Shore of Nova Scotia. This year, Dan, Kylie, Brent, Thomas and myself made the trek along with 20 other Youth Group members.

We left a bit earlier than usual in order to arrive by lunchtime - for some reason, we were given an extra meal, and as the food at White Point is ridiculously good we weren't gonna miss it. The bus rides were of course long, bumpy, and not exactly exciting, but the traditional stops in Masstown Market allowed for the purchase of food and a chance to stretch the legs. (Yes, I did buy and eat a chicken, do somethin').

The majority of our time at the resort was spent eating at the all you can eat buffets (I love breakfast buffet), swimming in either the lake, ocean, or pool/hotub, and talkin' it up or relaxing in the cabins. They had a spa, so some people (Dan and I included) got massages. We also had a pretty awesome volleyball matchup and some people rented wetsuits for a dip in the ocean. All in all, it was a very relaxing trip and a whole lot of fun was had by all!

On the final night we went for a walk along the beach, with the sand at our feet and the roaring of the ocean in our ears. We were asked to lay on the rocks and think deeply to ourselves, about ourselves, and what the odds were that we were on the beach, with those people, at that moment. It was a good time to think, and it made it real to me that my days with FYGA were finally over.

Mad props to Donnie and Carol for taking us, Bob the busdriver for taking us down, Brock and Amy for keeping us in line (Duuuuuuuh) the staff at White Point for their hospitality and everyone in FYGA for putting in all the hard work to make this trip possible!

That's just the way to Whizz

Ok, this has been in the records for a while now, and I feel the need to share it with all those Bloggers out there. Me and Tom were sitting in Geo class one day, reminising about old songs. We started to sing "Changes" by Tupac. Someone then mentioned Cheese, and well this is the end product of that. Ladies and Gentlemen without Further ado, Here is "That's just the way to Whizz - Changes" Written by Yours Truly, and Thomas Skabar.

PS, its easier to read this if you play the song in the background. We then cross the stage and recieve our diplomas, some more talking ensues, and they award medals.

This year, I recieved the Queen Elizabeth II Medal which is apparently a big friggen deal. Lepper recieved the Brent Cadman Memorial Award, which comes with $100 Scholarship. Dan received an award for "Good character, hard work and co-operative spirit", so basically being a good guy which we all know is true anyway.

After the medals, we hear the Valedictory, this year's Valedictorian was Catrina Russel. After that, we walk out while the band plays... Flashdance. That's right.

I'm gonna let others talk about safegrad and such, so check back to this space for updates.

Later.

The Busy Month

Well Jesse is right, ever since the activities have started for us grads we have been ignoring our pride and joy (this site)! Prom was awsome definately a good time, mom went through 6-7 rolls of film. At graduation I got a little surprise not only did I get a scholarship for $1 000 (Chamber of Commerce) but I got the Margaret J. MacMaster Friendship Scholarship worth 500 and an award for $100 the Brent Cadman award with your name ingraved on a plaque. I was very impressed with myself that night. Then safe grad thing got a little crazy! I was non stop running around, SWINGS! ROLLER COASTER! beat the f*** out of the ramblers in lazer tag 10 000 pts to 1400 pts for me, Jesse, Dan, and Brent (cocky bums)! After all that fun we had to make a 5 am trip to McDonalds (dan,me,jesse) Jesse passed out in the back while me and dan got bacon and egger meals! I went home finsihed my McDonalds watched Wedding Crashers slept for 2 hours! During those two hours I had the BIGGEST most PAINFULEST charlie horse u could have, I was rolling around in bed holding the baack of my leg trying not to scream, I rolled around and made so much noise hitting the wall i woke my sister and she ran in, she didn't help much but she was just trying to tell me stuff to do that i couldn't with all that damn pain! Anyways best of luck to all the grads out there, the grads I know I will miss u all! If u kids go to hali u call me! YOU GO to a phone and call me, you go!
Have a good one!

A Prom At The Roxbury

So, though this update was a little late, it's still fresh in my mind, I swear. The other night was prom, and the theme was easily the best ever; A Night At The Roxbury. Me and Alex got a peek at the decorations the day before prom, and I gotta say, student council did a great job.

Everyone entered the prom through the bus loop and, after being confronted by "security", their names were read by Brian Jones, and walked across the catwalk surrounded by a sea of people and camera flashes, into the front doors. There were plenty of really nice cars; '50s Chevys and Fords, restored muscle cars, limos, and even a horse-drawn carriage or two. I'm proud to say my mode of transportation was the most environmentally friendly there; a cardboard limo. A guy from the paper took our picture in the limo, but unfortunately it didn't make it into the paper.

When we entered the school, the decorations were even more impressive than my first glance of them. A big "HOLLYWOOD" sign on the brick wall, a painted subway in one of the hallways complete with subway noises, a fish pond, and most importantly a "Roxbury" sign at the end of the atrium.

As fun as prom was when everyone first got there, things began to wind down a couple hours in and people started to leave around 10:30, so we left at about 10:50. We actually walked home from prom...WALKED HOME FROM PROM. I don't know many people who can say that. After we all went our seperate ways to get changed and cleaned up, we met up at Jesse's, then Ashley's, then it was a convooooooy off to Jessica P's camp party....but I'll leave that for another update.

And Prom awards:

Lepper was voted Mr. Personality.
Dan was voted Mr. School Spirit.
Alex was voted Most Likely to become Prime Minister.

Sloppy Joes

Ok, we've all been extremely busy this past week or so, and as a result we haven't been updating as much as we would like to. Aside from having amazing food, drink, and dance, I was able to spend time with Kat, who I don't often get to see.

We drove down to Halifax on Friday, and I quickly changed into my tuxedo because the limo was supposed to arrive at any minute. It showed up around 3:30, and when we got inside Chantal & her boyfriend Zach (who had an amazing lime green tuxedo) were already there, as well as Nick & Roxanne. We drove around for quite a while as nobody knew where the fourth couple (Varick & his boyfriend Ben) lived. After passing their house and spending like half an hour driving out into Halifax's version of the boonies, we turned around and picked them up. The driver was a very surly man who kept insisting that 570 Cow Bay Rd. doesn't exist, when it clearly did. Oh, we also had non-alcoholic coolers as the limo had a no-alcohol rule (and since they have safe-grad after prom it probably would've been a bad idea).

So eventually we show up at the Public Gardens - late of course after our extended detour - and got a bunch of pictures. It felt weird getting into pictures of the school group, because I don't legitimate go there, but oh well. A bunch of us ran to McDonalds to pee, that was kinda sweet, and everyone stared at us in our finery.

After this we get back into the limo and head to the hotel - which was very, very nice. We line up, do the "grand march" (in which everyone and their date is announced) and ate in the ballroom. The food was rediculously good, they had all kinds of stuff and it was a great meal. I finished it off with Chocolate cheesecake that is pretty much my new favourite food ever. After food we just talked and walked around, and then the dance started at around 9:00. It was a lot of fun, but I just have to say that many of these white french dudes have very little rythm and it was comedic gold to watch.

At midnight we left and went down to the docks, boared a tall ship (I think it was called the Silva?) and sailed up and down Halifax harbour. It wasn't a clear night, and it was quite foggy, but this made the city lights look beautiful and bestowed everything with a very haunting beauty. Plus it was fun dancing on the boat and sailing under the bridge - which for some reason had a bunch of cop cars on top and their light flashed across the sky.

After the cruise, we went back to the school - they had this awards show in French so I didn't understand, but it was evident that these grads are tight and really know each other well. I guess it happens when you go through 13 years of school with the same 44 people. They then signed yearbooks and watched this picture movie of their highschool days (which was boring for me but I could definitely understand why they enjoyed it). We capped it all off with a really great breakfast of fresh fruit, muffins bagels and donuts and then I finally went home to bed, which was circa 7:30. This means I only got a few hours of sleep before Carly's - and thanks to everyone deciding to wake up at 8 and start yelling, I didn't sleep well their either.

Oh, and I'm probably going to do an edit later for spelling - I apologize for sounding like an idiot as well, but I am very tired and need to sleeeeeep.

Good Night, Bad Morning

Well, this night proved to be a...Yeah, there's no one word that can be used to describe this. The question is where to start?
Kylie has just come back from a 2-month hiatus from drinking, and I've been out of the drinking game since Feb or farther back to New Year's.

The night started out with alot of confusion of where to go, who's going where, and what's going on. After all the manuvering of people and cars, we were on the fast lane (except for that fucking slow ass car that was in front of us half way there) to Carly's Camp.

Once there, we got our sleeping arrangments and it's time to crack open the liqour =D
Here's the liqour list
Dan + Kylie -> 24 Coors (Dan = 7 beers, Kylie = 9 beers)
Woody -> Gin and mix
Carly -> Mike's Hard Crisp Apple (x4)
Matt -> (The neck) of Captain Dark
Vince -> Pint of Crown Royal
Jessica -> Bottle of Wine
Alex -> H2O
Lepper -> Captain + Five Alive

Well this led to a very very long game of Thumbmaster, which pretty much led everyone to their doom of drunkeness. We played some other card games, but then the raging party decided to slope down a rocky hill.

Basically it was just a complete puke fest and trying to take care of the sick. Actually it wasn't really a fest, more like just Vince not knowing what's going on. Jessica emptied her stomache, but she sobered up quick. The sober and drunk people still somewhat in the right state of mind, helped out to make sure everyone was alright. Somehow, at that camp, I always end up touching vomit with one of my limbs. This time...yeah, bare foot. I'm sure you can understand what it may feel like if u were to warm up some taco dip and step in it.

After everyone passed out for the night, the morning decided it wanted to slap me in the face with a headache and tiredness (which is better then puking in the morning) but yet everyone else seemed to be fine. I tried to sleep as much as a could, because the light really effected my headache, but unfortunatly we had to leave, and I had to move. w00t. We were back on the road and then to McDonalds to get some food in our system. Carly bought me two #1's on the breakfast menu. We ate and split our ways.

Now I'm writing this story to you to enjoy...now if you excuse me, I must go to the school for prom stuff, then the grad church service, then Jessica's for another party =D

Here's to a busy week everyone
*Cheers*

(Definitely) Got the job.

I just got a phone call from Heather M, Co-ordinator of Active Lifestyles Programs for the Abilities Foundation of Nova Scotia, and she told me that I got the camp counselor position at Camp Tidnish, which is a camp for physically and mentally challenged children and adults. (Tom, the best thing to do would be to call her yourself - talk to me for the number). She said there were a couple forms to fill out and I'm assuming that means she will mail them to me? It's all good.

I am looking forward to having a new, fun job and escaping the hell that is Shell Canada. Maybe I'll even have a great experience along the way.

Other than that, I only have two exams left - Calculus and English Provincial are done ("DOUBLE KILL"), Global Geography ("TRIPLE KILL") and Physics Provincial ("SUICIDE") are remaining. I at least get to write Global Geograpy in the learning center so that should be fun!

After my physics exam I have an interview with the paper, and then get to pick up my tux, because I'm going to go down to Halifax on Friday for the Prom at Ecole d'Carrefour. Should be a good time, and Jesse is going to come down with me so that he can meet up with his harem. First this prom, then ours next Tuesday - I cannot believe that I graduate in a week and a day!

The picture? It's almost game over man, if you will. Everyone has exams this week, except me, which is always a plus, but the abuse I suffer isn't a plus. Good luck this week children, if it makes you feel better I get to sleep in all week. So anyway, Red ordered my laptop tongiht and it should be here within a week or two. Very clutch indeed. The final FYGA is tomorrow night which makes me extremely upset and depressed. I have nothing to bring to the potluck either so hopefully I'll figure that one out. I don't know if I've ever had a cheering section of 40 people at any other interview I've been to. I'm pretty sure we got the job - the director, Heather M., told us that she liked us and we were welcome to join the staff but that she needed to do some background checks before she made it official.

Last night Tom and I went out to Jessica P.'s and sorta kinda had a bonfire, which basically consisted of people throwing chairs and spraying Raid onto the fire. The upside to this party was that there was an abundance of sweet food to be had.

Oh, and it turns out that the iPod I got from Acadia was a nano, so that's pretty sweet.

This last week of school has bascially been optional - I only went to one class on Tuesday, and that was the one where my class went to the dance recital. If that doesn't say "overachiever" than I don't know what does.

Til' next time.

And of course, Monday is the last day of highschool. I think that's insane.

Sandy....RIP

Well buds as you probably have already heard Sandy had to be put down, now to some it's probably no big deal but it is to me becuase she was a part of my life for 16 years! Now I am going to tell you the story of Sandy's bad day. This morning I was awakened by P lep saying Sandy is down, immediately i ran out of bed downstairs thinking she was dead. But to find she had just colapsed because of a stroke. After the stroke she couldn't walk the same all morning, watching her suffer like that was the worse thing I have ever done to myself, enough torture for me to say "ok this can't go on we have to put her down." Which let me be the one to say "it isn't an easy thing to say." At first I said I wasn't going to go to the vet because I didn't want to see her go but at 11 am I decided I midas-well be with her until the end and joined her at the vet. She was uncomfortable, but in seconds she was ok and gone to a better place (very sad)! After school Dan, Vince, and I dug a hole knee deep (by the way thanks dan and vince it means alot to me) in the backyard and gave her a proper funeral and said good-bye to my best bud Sandy.
On a happier note, I set the date for my last day of working at Price Chopper August 26th!! Talked to my dickhead boss and worked out me staying there for 16 hours each week!

Few Updates...If You Wanna Call It That...

Hey brothers & sisters,

So not much news has happened to me over the few days, but this week I've pretty well completely checked out of school. I got the Job at Wal-mart, and my first shift starts at 4:30pm today. So I won't be able to make the Awards Night tonight =(
I had an interview with the people from the Bacon-Elliott Bursary, I think it went alright, but we'll soon see come Graduation. There's two of them given out, and 5 of us had an interview, so 40% chance isn't too bad.

Good Show!

Well, it's finally over, and unfortunately, we didn't win. But congrats to Ernie, I'm sure that he'll do a great job as minis- oh... oh wait, no. We're deep in the heart of Conservative country, and all you can do is try! I guess one positive thing is that Dad did better than the other Liberals that have tried, even though provincially the Liberals have been getting a shit-kicking from the media.

After I dropped Daniel-san off and drove home... I saw like... a bomb being thrown? I'm not entirely sure what it was, someone threw this weird thing and I saw it trail and land in greco's parking lot, and it was on fire and the gas coming out of it stunk really bad and was filling up the whole area. So uh, chemical warfare anyone?

Oh, and I got a fish! I used to be obsessed with them, but I gave them all away. Now I have just a singular betta, and I'm not sure what to name it.

Today I basically went to school, and the only thing I actually went to was the Dance Recital - it was a good time haha.

Other than this, I have absolutely nothing to say, so peace out.

Is fucking summer here yet?

So, this weekend as most of you know, I went to Ottawa for a family get together...What sweet ass fun that was, NOT. We left at around...mmm 3:45 monday, after I tried to stay up all night the previous night. I made it halfway through Conan, so It lasted until about 2 oclock. I only did this so that I could get a good sleep in the car... Well that didn't work for some reason. I just layed there completely conscious the entire time with my headphones on for about 13-14 hours of non stop driving through a god damn monsoon. We had to take Jenn's (Sister with new baby) Mom back to Ottawa with us too...Yeah. Thank god for Duracell.

So we get to my Aunts pretty early, around 5 oclock there time. She was pumped as usual. I met up with her, my uncle, my grandparents and cousins. And of course Willie, the dog. Willie also developed some nasty ass cancer and has a large tumor on his side, which was sad. But he's still the exact same dog. It just looks like he's gunna split into 2 Willies. So we just...did nothing for a while, I even went to try and sleep in a bed, and no such luck. My sleeper must've been broken. We had some supper, I played poker with the cousins for a while, then at 10 oclock I finally went to bed again, and didn't wake up until 1 oclock the next day. That's a personal record.

Then the party started at 2 oclock and ran until about 8. 30+ bottles of Wine and a Keg were all open for grabs. And yes, I indulged. Not much though. And god dammit it's disgusting! Wine does not taste like grapes at all, contrary to....my belief. My cousin also rolfed over everything by the end of the night. The party was super boring for me, just a bunch of relatives Ive never seen before talking in Dutch...yay. My cousins had all their friends over, but it just made me miss home even more, listening to them all enjoy their own inside jokes. Missed my buds.

So we had a big ass poker tournament next, and Im happy to say I had a comfortable 2nd place, and I got beat by the biggest shit show ever. I went all in blind, and he said he would call me anyways (he had about 30 times what I had). I get 2, 3 unsuited, he gets A, K unsuited. off the flop, K, K, A...as if that wasnt bad enough. Turn, 4...and then bam, the River is another A. What a prick job. Bed time for me.

Next day, Mom and I took Oma and Opa to the airport. Mom spent an extra 20 minutes finding a parking spot because apparently they can't handle going in alone. I took them in to their checkout and the person there was really friendly, even offered them a drive around the terminal. Finally mom shows up, we buy some Harveys, then head out to go visit moms french friend Silvie.

We get there, and I manage to connect to the "Internets" for a bit. Then her 2 little kids come home and start asking me all these french questions. And I was all...WUH? But then BAM out of no where they start talking in English. These 2 very small children were completely bilingual. Crazyness. Anyways, we stay overnight there and then back in the car for another whole god damn day.

This ride seemed so, so much longer. And that's bad considering the first ride was long enough. It wasn't raining, but it wasn't sunny either. Bleh, after 13 hours of trying to keep Mom awake, we finally get home. Hooray? no...

I was set behind the whole weekend on my whole working out routine I made up, so naturally I want to catch up. I bust out the dance pad and UH OH. HUGE sudden pain in my leg, and I go down. I'm screaming WTF and then Stan comes in out of no where and seems to know what he's talking about. He says I've got a leg splint and some shit about tendons. So he wraps me up and I hobble into my comp chair, atleast I can still do THAT to entertain myself...OH WAIT.

Nothing but crap on the internet too, and I lost a whole bunch of files that just mysteriously dissapeared (Hmm). So a few terrible/awkward conversations later, It's bedtime. Although the conversation I had with Brent was pretty interesting. If I knew how to post pictures on this thing, I would show them all the greatness, Brent.

And now here I am, NOT in school, ranting about my terrible weekend. I pray to the GODS of jelly that this week gets better, and fast.

Drawing to a Close

Yep, tomorrow begins the last week of school. This means I should probably be studying - but when have I ever done that.

We wrapped up some band stuff this weekend, by playing at the Parish Festival and at the Teacher's retirement banquet. It was such a crazy rush to see all of your old teachers screaming and dancing around the tables, they absolutely loved it and it is something that's going to stick with me for a long time. I think that congratulations are in order. Also, we played at Trinity St. Stephens this morning - which is always a great show, the church really works to improve our sound.

What else... Friday night we got together and played poker, and signed yearbooks, which was pretty tough. We went down to the "Relay For Life" and did a couple laps and visited the luminaries that were set up for Daniel's mother, which was tough as well.

Other than that, nothing major to report for this weekend, things are simply "drawing to a close", and I'm here to witness it and report it every step of the way. The countdown to graduation is on, with 18 days left.

Oh, one more thing - I won an iPod from Acadia! I'm not entirely sure how, but I guess I must have been entered in some draw, and they are supposed to be mailing it soon. I don't know what type it is either, could be a shuffle, nano, or regular iPod I'm assuming - so more on this as it develops.

Till next time.

Walmart Employee?

Hey Everyone,
I didn't want to push Alex's news down the page, but too bad for him.
The new yearbook looks amazing, hats off to Alex and Mal for the great work!
Too bad we couldn't do the grade write ups again, because I noticed I left out Carly and alot more stuff has been done since I wrote those...the note I wrote to Jesse, what was that about? lol, but still the grad writeups really showed me that we're graduating...and there's only a week (+1) left of classes...and lots of stuff with Graduation coming up.

Any-hoo, to the title.. I've got another interview at Walmart today with the manager(s) at 3:30. I'm not sure whats going down this afternoon, because when I was at the first job interview, they said they'll do a background check and they would give me a call by next week.
(and yeah..its only been two days, better then Pricechopper lol)
And they said if they call me, they'll set up an interview with the manager(s) where they'll give me a job offer. Let the countdown begin (T-60 Minutes)

Yearbook/Stage Band/Swimsuit Model????

Well, here is the Yearbook..... cover. One of our committee members was so kind to lose grad-write ups, and this definitely screwed some things, but I think everything should be sorted out, and to these two people - sorry! But everything is good now.

Man, it took a long, long time to do this book. Solo went okay, everyone did really well - and busting out the oversized hats and sunglasses (funny, because they're bigger than normal!) was of course sweet. Ms. Taylor's outfit during "Funkytown" was... well, I guess the appropriate word would be funky. Congrats to Hillary A. and Scott N. for the awards! We still have a few more concerts coming up, we are playing at the Parish Fesitval this Saturday, at Trinity St. Stephens Church during their Sunday morning service, and at another top secret locale.

Oh, one more thing - FYGA has decided to do a swimsuit fashion show, hosted by Amy P. - and some of us are going to be wearing decidedly revealing clothing. This is the Job that would save me from Price Chopper and make it so I can make a good amount of money this summer. After the interview I felt ok it was a solid interview with Dewhite. Six days later I find out I am one of the top four people along with three girls who are just as fit for the job as I am (Jenna, Maura, and Julie)!! Four people left and three positions, Maura was granted the tennis instructor and that means between the three of us there is just two parks available. Let me tell you I was scared of Baers. But no worries I wont be stuck not getting paid enough from Price CHopper I just got off the phone with D-white an dhe offered me the job (of course I accepted) and i start training this thursday! Thank to all of you for trying to calm me down when I talked to you frantically about this for the past week!! My appologies go out to Julie who was the one out of the four of us who got cut, she was bummed out but she'll get another job for sure!
.......thanks again buds...I am now pumped for the summer!

fyga

dan's piczo thing is probably going to be out of control. he does that to things, artistically and such

white point july 4-6, thats going to be awesome. it was such a good time last year, and frankly i like this year's crop of people better than last year so i'm obviously looking forward to it. the only thing is, its going to be the very last youth group experience i'll ever have. by that point regular youth group meetings will be over and thats all i'll have left to cling to. three years have gone so fast, and its been an unbelievable three years. i'm so grateful for everything youth group has made possible for me and i'm already dreading the end.

Mono-tone Blues

So the hospital was an adventure. After 6 days they finally let me out, which is a real shame. I honestly felt a lot better when I was in there then when I got home. They definitely let me out way to soon. I miss my precious pain killers. But the hospital at night, is the worst place ever. It's very errie. The hall lights are left on, and theres no noise except the occasional nurse and the IV machine. Time seems to slow to a crawl and it felt like I was awake for hours at a time. But mono has its upsides I guess, so I'm definitely exempt from all school work and exams from now til the end of the year, which is a huge bonus. But still, my spleen is apprently very tender, so any hard physical activitity could rupture it, which is a shame, because I'm so physically active. Anyway, Mono is extremely tiring, not to mention painful. But anyway, only 90 days left til we leave for university, and thats pretty neat. Oh well, I'm out.

I didn't get my Band Teacher a quart of vodka..? I'll try not to get too braggy, but our band is just so god damn good it's hard not too. Out of the 72 concert bands that competed at the Atlantic Band Fest, we won the award for Most Outstanding. Pumped. Ms. Taylor also won an excellence in teaching award, and I'm really not sure if anyone deserves it more than her.

The afternoon concert was good, (and so was the food at bigstop in between) but the evening concert went better in my opinion. We all lined up on stage, and then got pinned with corsages (sp?) and recieved photos. This part is kind of a blur, because everything is just lights, cameras, and action. We also gave Ms. Taylor her present, which consisted of a quart of Vodka in a trumpet shaped bottle. I hope she enjoys it!

I won a couple of awards, and I'm really not sure what the first was, because everything was a blur and it was like two sentences long. The second was the Fred Gray Memorial Award, which the band votes on. This year it was a tie between myself and Leslie M., so we both got one and that was nice.

We still have the Stage Band Concert coming up on Thursday at 7:00. It'll be worth it if you go.

So that's everything that's ever happend in my life up to this point. Enjoy!

P.S. Here is a pic of Brent and I, clearly lovin' it, nerdy as ever in our band uniforms.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://adotbrothers.blogspot.com/2006/06/i-didnt-get-my-band-teacher-quart-of.html' title='I didn't get my Band Teacher a quart of vodka..? In fact, he does a complete 'U-Turn' on that second statment. This man steals from the rich and shares the wealth with the poor.
I'm talking about our one and own Brent Perry!

Picture this:
Big corporation buys product, only to have expired stuff at the end of the day...just waiting to be thrown out.
One faithful day Brent and I (oh yes..correct english) are walking in Walmart looking at stuff. He says he has to check his schedual. He goes out back and comes out all jittery. Of course I'm confused as hell because he's like
"Guess what I just saw!"
and I'm thinking
"If it's not two hot chicks doing something together, then I'm sure it's not worth hearing."
So I just look at him and shrug with the response of
"I don't know, what?"
Brent looks at me and says
"There is an enitre cart full of expired Red Bull just sitting there."
I look at him like something just slapped me in the face.
"No Way..." I reply

What happens next? Well he goes out back and opens up a box of bags, fills two bags with 8 cans and we walk out of the store like we just recieved the greatest christmas present ever.

Yesterday, Brent had to go to work. I tells him that if there's any Red Bull left, to fill an entire bookbag full and bring it home. He was very doubtful that it would still be there, seeing how the walmart bastards throw it all the stuff out at night.

I give Brent a call after he gets home...and to everyones surprise, he stole 23 Red Bull.

This Man...Is God

The Business Hall of Fame

So yesterday was the day of Me and Lepper's big important business conference in the World Trade Convention Center in Halifax. We were specially invited by JA to attend the Business Hall of Fame dinner. But to us, it only meant seeing our JAAC friends another time. Mom took us down after all of us cut work/school early. We got to Bedford to pick up Shannon so that Mom didn't get bored out of her skull waiting for us, and then we went straight to the WTCC. Lepper immediatly went to see his sister Mel just to show her his suit and what not. I made my way into the center completely lost when I noticed Shelbie through the window, and then saw Kara, Lucas and Grace. We went outside, embraced, then wandered around trying to figure out where to go. Brenda who runs JA Nova Scotia pointed us in the right direction where we found our nametags along with our table # and sponsor.

A few minutes past and we saw Natalie practicing her stuff with Daniel, the other MC (God I hate that kid, he's also burried deep in the closet). Lep shows up eventually, and we search through the nametags furiously to see if Karly's is there, and it wasn't! Finally half of the Sackville girls show up late, Kristie Lyndsay and Sarah F. We do our hellos, and the valley people haven't seen them in a long time, so they were pretty excited. After we get a speech from the new JA prez, we wander down into the dining room to find our tables, and mine is in the furthest corner possible from the stage. That didn't matter much though because of the crazy set up they had. 4 massive Hi-def TV's, and 6 huge projection screens. It was "High Class" to the max. We go back and do our little mingle thing which none of us took part in, but first we meet up with Myra and Sarah S, who we thought flew in a ditch or something.

And oh sweet jesus, Leeta arrived. We were dodging her all night (Shes large, annoying, and apparently obsessed with Lucas). In Dane's language, she is both a "Brian" and a "Karen". She's like if Brian and Karen had a big kid. So we mingled, took some photos, then we got sent upstairs where we had to make a road block type thing as hundreds and hundreds of executives and CEOs went and found their tables. Took a few more pics, chatted it up with Brenda and some other peeps, then we went into dinner. Which was looooooooong, but still nice. Like I said, I was in the furthest possible seat from all the action. Natalie did an awesome job MCing the event as usual, and Daniel....didn't. I really want to punch that kid, but oh well, it was still good. We saw some really pathetic attempt at a play from the early....times. Not really sure what time frame it was in, but it was bad. Then some guys did their little thank you speech after they were inducted into the Hall of Fame. One guy looked like Dana Carvey and Bob Saget mixed together. AND, I sat with a guy who looked EXACTLY like Buster from AD, Tony Hale. It was intense. The dinner ended, blah blah we shook hands with our sponsors and then we headed outside.

It was good bye time for everyone. We finally got a picture of all the JAAC originals. Me, Lepper, Natalie, Lyndsay, Myra, Sarah S, Sarah F, Kristie, Grace, Kara, Lucas, Shelbie, and Scott. We all did our shugs and hugs, and then we were off...

I miss all you guys, and we have to plan to meet up yet again. Every time we do its always a ton of fun. I'll throw up some pics on the pic site.

And thats my first REAL entry to our ADB site. Enjoy.

Piczo Website Under Construction

I'm working hard on the new website, I've got alot of ideas lol, but it's gonna take alot of work...cuz well..my HTML and Photoshop skills only take me so far. After stopping at a Vietnamese restaurant for dinner (we tried Sake, which is basically hot alcohol, and is considered good for some reason), we walked around St. Catherine's Street in order to get a sense of the place. Before long, we were talking to a bouncer outside "Club Chic", a very classy strip joint if I do say so myself. After some debate, we decided to enter, though the bouncer told us they would think our Nova Scotia Driver's license were fake. Five dollars each later (stupid cover charge) we were past the security and seated. A charming waitress in a lovely outfit took our drink orders, and apparently two beer is supposed to cost 12 bucks. When I paid her, she "politely" informed me that the tip was not included and I fumbled around looking for change, eventually handing her an extra three bucks (it was black lighting, and it was incredibly difficult to tell what I had in my hand). So we sit, and look, and talk, and after a while these two ladies, Jenna and Annabelle, come over to chat. They tell us they would be honored to dance for us - unfortunately, we did not have the proper cash. Carly decides to go to the ATM, which had a CHARGE OF FIVE BUCKS. She also buys a ten dollar drink, because you know, that's reasonable. We go back to our new friends who are hitting on these other people, but eventually they come back, and after some small talk lead us into a back room which basically resembled a change area at American Eagle, only much darker and naked-er. We sit down in the farthest booth, and they inform us it's 20 bucks, and a two song minimum. We only had twenty bucks, so we said no, just one song, and then they agreed.

As for the dance itself? My face was being attacked by her breasts, and I was slightly afraid for my life (authors note: the black eye was a result of the tae kwon-do tournament at a later date, in which I recieved a silver medal for sparring!). Annabelle got energetic and decided to do her very poor re-enactment of the harlem shake. Since the dance was "full contact", the strippers continuosly put our hands on their uh, lady parts. It was very... awkward. Yes, awkward is the word I'm looking for.

So the song ends, and Carly hands them the twenty, and suddenly it's 20 dollars each, so I go to the ATM and get more money (again, a five dollar charge). After that, Carly got another drink and we left for the hotel, where I immediately took a shower and vowed never to return to that strip club again.
